MBA students undertake a strategic study of the internal/external environment of a client company and develop strategy and action recommendations in reports/presentations. Eight months long starting in September, January or May.

Expected outcomes and deliverables

Final deliverables are:

  • a 40 page business style report summarizing assessment, and presenting strategy and action recommendations
  • a 20 minute PowerPoint presentation arguing the value of the recommended strategy and action plans
  • Research Papers with up front 1 or 2 page summary of purpose/methodology and major findings

Project examples

A group of 6-7 MBA students will undertake a comprehensive study of your company, including all the business's functions, financial performance, industry, and business model. The students will identify strengths, weaknesses, future prospects and major issues.

Having performed this diagnostic, the groups consider alternatives and recommend strategic directions, actions, an implementation plan and financial implications.

These recommendations may include any of the below:

  • New market entry
  • New product offerings
  • Sale of the company
  • Streamlining operations or channels
  • Changing organizational structure
