Would you like to improve employee relations and/or team dynamics within your organization? In this project, student-consultants working in small groups will apply their knowledge of leadership skills and dynamics to help your organization better understand the skills required of both leaders and followers. Students will address challenges in areas such as power, communication, gender, and decision-making. The students will develop a report and presentation for your organization upon completion of the project.

Expected outcomes and deliverables

The final project deliverables might include:

  1. 10-15 minute virtual oral presentation of key findings and recommendations and submission of the slide deck along with speaking notes.
  2. A detailed report including their research, analysis, insights, and recommendations.
  3. A pamphlet/poster or manual for distribution to your organization members.

Project Examples

Beginning in September, students in groups of 4 will work with your company to identify your needs and provide actionable recommendations, based on their in-depth research and analysis.

Project examples include but are not limited to:

  • Building a dynamic, team-oriented session using experiential learning methods
  • Creating tools for understanding leadership and followership skills in your organization
  • Examining theories of leadership and their practicality in the medium chosen
  • Evaluating individual leadership styles and associated consequences given a particular context
  • Developing leadership skills training programs using experiential and virtual learning methods
  • Bridging multi-generational differences in the workplace
  • Revitalizing leadership development/ succession planning in your organization
  • Enhancing decision making during a crisis
  • Understanding diversities in the workplace
Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:

Provide an opportunity for students to present their work and receive feedback.

Provide a dedicated contact who is available to answer periodic emails or phone calls over the duration of the project to address students' questions.
