A Master's-level student-consultant will work with your organization on a substantial business analytics project of your choosing. Combining technical data analytics and business consulting, they will work to provide you with valuable insights and recommendations.

Expected outcomes and deliverables

Phase 1 – Project Plan: The student-consultant will meet with organization representative(s) to devise the project scope and prepare a detailed plan for completion of the project.

Phase 2 – Project Execution: The student-consultant will work on deliverables outlined in the project plan. They will periodically communicate with organization representative(s) as needed to complete project tasks.

Phase 3 - Outcome - Analysis and Recommendations: The student-consultant will submit the final deliverables, include substantive data analysis work, analysis, and recommendations, as determined by your organization in Phase 1.

Requirements

Starting this May, an individual Master's-level student will spend 300 hours working with your organization on a substantial business analytics project of your choosing.

Based on the data and resources that you provide, the student will apply technical and consulting skills to extract insights and provide recommendations that will assist management in planning and decision making.

Example project tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Interviewing key stakeholders for context and insights.
  • Conducting data analysis using SAS, Python, VBA, Hadoop and/or machine learning.
  • Creating predictive models and data visualizations.

Note: Students are responsible for maintaining strict confidentiality of company information and sign a confidentiality agreement when enrolling in the course.
