Project feedback
I recently had the opportunity to work on the Q-HPPC project, and it's an experience I will cherish for years to come. This project introduced me to the comprehensive process of executing a scoping review. From identifying pertinent literature to synthesizing insights, every stage offered me new challenges and revelations about the nuances of research. One of the most transformative aspects of my involvement was the chance to attend academic conferences focused on housing insecurity and homelessness, both in Canada and internationally. These platforms expanded my horizons, facilitating enriching interactions with academics and practitioners. The stories, data, and lived experiences shared at these events significantly deepened my understanding of the subject. My background in psychology has always sparked my curiosity about human behaviour and its dynamics within societal constructs. Through the Q-HPPC project, I gained profound insights into the various pathways leading to homelessness. This new perspective has urged me to contemplate how this intersects with my primary interest in inter-group behaviour. There's an undeniable link between societal behaviours and the causes of homelessness. My aim now is to dig deeper to understand which specific behaviours and circumstances can lead to someone losing their home. By identifying these, I believe we can work towards effective prevention strategies. Last but certainly not least, I must express my immense gratitude to my supervisor. Their diligent approach, dedication to process, and vast expertise became the compass that guided me throughout this entire experience. They were more than just a supervisor; they were a mentor, ensuring I wasn't merely completing tasks but truly grasping and learning from each step. Their flexibility and genuine concern for my learning experience made me feel valued and supported. In summary, the Q HPPC project wasn't just a work professional undertaking for me; it was a learning journey that has had a lasting impact. I'm eager to channel all that I've absorbed from this endeavour into furthering research in psychology, with a particular focus on preventing homelessness and promoting a more inclusive society.
