Details

As the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and NWT grows, it is important to stay up to date with the industry’s evolving human resources practices to manage our employees effectively. In this project, students will design a preliminary model of a new performance evaluation system that emphasizes our company goals, and draws a focus to our main challenges that staff are facing.

Tasks include:

  • Speaking to current employees and management to determine the needs and challenges of our organization for a performance management system.
  • Researching performance management options that may suit the needs of our team, focusing on measurability and reliability.
  • Establishing a rollout plan that outlines how our organization will transition to using a new performance management system.
  • Using a weighted decision matrix to decide on a method based on factors such as efficiency, user-friendliness, measurability, reliability, and cost- effectiveness.
Deliverables

By the end of the project, students should complete the following list of activities (this is basically a retelling of the steps above):

  • Conducted research by speaking to company staff to determine needs and challenges of our current performance management system.
  • Completed research online to determine options for a new performance management system.
  • Created a rollout plan for the new performance management system.
  • Compiled a final report with data, research findings, and the rollout plan..

Final deliverables should include:

  • A final report outlining research conducted, various performance management options, the decision for the optimal strategy, and a rollout plan including considerations of adopting the new system..
  • A 20-minute presentation explaining all findings in the report.
Mentorship

Students will connect directly with us for mentorship throughout the project. We will be able to provide answers to questions such as:

  • What are the main challenges we are having with staff?
  • What aspects of our current performance management system work well? Which need the most improvement?
  • How much money do we have to implement a new performance management system?
  • Input on choices, problems or anything else the students might encounter.
