Finding Our Power Together, an Indigenous-led non-profit organization, seeks to enhance our online presence and digital accessibility through a comprehensive website development project. Our objective is to create a dynamic, user-friendly, and informative website that reflects our mission to support Indigenous youth and communities and our commitment to preventing suicide and promoting well-being.

This project will involve:

  • Conducting a thorough analysis of our current website and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Making adjustment to current website for improved access
  • Integrating features that enhance user engagement, such as interactive elements, multimedia content, and social media integration.
  • Ensuring the website is accessible, mobile-friendly, and optimized for search engines.

Bonus steps in the project could include:

  • Developing a strategy for ongoing website maintenance and content updates.


Deliverables

By the end of the project, students should demonstrate:

  • An understanding of the key components of effective website design, particularly for non-profit organizations.
  • The ability to create a website layout and design that aligns with our organizational values and goals.
  • Proficiency in website development, including coding, content creation, and user interface design.
  • Implementation of SEO best practices and accessibility guidelines.

Bonus tasks could include:

  • Formulating a plan for regular website updates and maintenance.

Final deliverables should include:

  • A fully functional, redesigned website.
  • A report outlining the website development process, design choices, and recommendations for future enhancements.
Mentorship

Students will connect directly with us for mentorship throughout the project. We will be able to provide answers to questions such as:

  • Our current products and website design
  • Our customer and industry insights
  • Input on choices, problems or anything else the students might encounter.
