electric vehicles greenhouse gas energy consumption comparative analysis research
Details

Over 80% of global energy consumption comes from fossil fuels, and the transportation sector is the biggest consumer. More than 25% of Canada's greenhouse gas emissions originate from transporting goods and people. Consequently, achieving a substantial decline in greenhouse gas emissions from the transportation sector is imperative for meeting national and provincial climate reduction targets. Electric vehicles possess the potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions substantially. Nevertheless, the adoption of electric vehicles in Canada has been comparatively lower compared to most other developed nations, like Norway, Iceland, the Netherlands, and the United States. In this context, the research aims to achieve the following objectives:

  1. Identify the challenges impeding the widespread adoption of electric vehicles in Canada, drawing insights from experiences in other countries.
  2. Conduct a comparative analysis of the government policies to promote electric vehicle adoption across different provinces in Canada and their effectiveness.
