Hi there!

My Student Wellbeing is a brand new organization, founded in Winnipeg, Manitoba, with the mission of being a valuable resource for post-secondary students to learn about mental health, learn about how to improve their wellbeing, and have access to qualified mental health counsellors, who accept student insurance, for virtual one to one counselling.

We are still in the process of developing our organization and we would love your input on how we can appeal to post-secondary students through content marketing. We would like students to help us with brainstorming, discovering, compiling and creating content that is aligned with our vision and mission.

This project could include:

  • Compiling a list of topics which would be interesting or appreciated by post-secondary students. Think of what you wish you knew as a student, about any facet of life, so we can find or create content about those topics in the future. You may want to write down some initial thoughts and then look online for other content which you think could be beneficial.
  • Sharing any thoughts you have, if you're willing, about your understanding of mental health and wellbeing as well as what information sources have taught you what you know?
  • Creating, distributing, and analyzing a survey to collect responses from other students to understand what type of content is important to them.
  • Creating, distributing, and analyzing a survey to collect responses to understand what would help reduce any barriers students have for accessing mental health services.
  • Conduct research on post-secondary wellbeing and mental health content to find online websites and provide your impressions on their content. What are they doing well? How could information be better displayed to increase the chances of people actually reading the content?
  • Compile a list of third party resources and links based on the topics of interest which we can share through our platforms.
  • Creating content related to topics students find useful (tip of the day, infographics, phone backgrounds with useful content).
  • Review our social media content and provide your initial impressions. How can we make our content better?
  • Brainstorming unique, fun, or engaging promotional campaigns to help us spread our content.
  • Depending on abilities and willingness, you may have the opportunity to help create our graphics utilizing our user friendly software.
  • Brainstorming, identifying, and approaching individuals or groups which would align with our organization.
  • Conceptualizing a reward program or game, where students can acquire points by learning about mental health/wellbeing and redeem those points for rewards.

Overall, the goal here is to come up with information which we can share that will improve post-secondary students' wellbeing across Canada. Your work will have significant positive impacts in peoples' lives. Project scope can be adjusted according to interests of students. Main potential deliverables are:

  • Survey creation, distribution, and analysis
  • Brainstorming topic ideas, compiling sources to learn about that information, and analyzing how that information is shared
  • Creating media with relevant content which can help students
  • A report or presentation on the best way to engage post-secondary students (is it social media posts? engaging games? rewards program? something else?)

As a startup, we're quickly pivoting, trying new ideas, and appreciating the support of anyone who is willing to help. Skills developed may include communication, analytical capabilities, and teamwork.

If you like the sound of our culture, and are ready to tackle this challenge with us, then we'd love to hear from you.

Any project members will have direct contact with the Founder and CEO. This would be a great opportunity for any students who have an interest in mental health, supporting other students, education, graphic design, providing input which will be appreciated, or for those who are interested in startups.

Looking forward to connecting!

Mentorship

Mentorship and supervision is very important in any program. Students will have access to myself (Tyler, CEO) through email, instant message, and weekly video calls. It'll be important to provide constructive feedback, recognize the successes, and listen to any questions/concerns.
