Position Overview

Duration: 2 weeks (10 business days)

Students: 1-2 students

This placement offers students practical experience in business research, lead analysis, and partnership development within the nonprofit sector.


Students will gain valuable skills in market research, valuation, and strategic business development that are directly applicable to actuarial, accounting, and commerce careers.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this placement, students will be able to:

  • Conduct effective lead research and qualification using multiple criteria
  • Analyze and prioritize business opportunities based on strategic fit
  • Develop evidence-based partnership valuations
  • Create compelling partnership proposals
  • Understand nonprofit revenue diversification strategies
Deliverables

Week 1 Deliverables

Days 1-2: Lead Research & Analysis

  • Outcome: Comprehensive understanding of target market and lead qualification process
  • Deliverable: Analyzed lead list of 15-20 potential partners with scoring matrix based on:
  • Company size and financial capacity
  • Recent growth indicators
  • Partnership marketing needs
  • Market expansion opportunities
  • Strategic alignment potential
  • History of nonprofit support


Days 3-5: Market Research & Competitive Analysis

  • Outcome: Evidence-based understanding of partnership pricing in the sector
  • Deliverable: Market research report including:
  • Analysis of 5-8 comparable partnership agreements
  • Pricing benchmarks for similar nonprofit partnerships
  • Value proposition frameworks used by peer organizations

Week 2 Deliverables

Days 6-8: Partnership Valuation Development

  • Outcome: Strategic pricing model for partnership offerings
  • Deliverable: Partnership valuation framework including:
  • Tiered pricing structure with justifications
  • ROI calculations for potential partners
  • Value metrics and measurement criteria


Days 9-10: Pitch Development & Presentation

  • Outcome: Professional partnership proposal ready for implementation
  • Deliverable: Complete partnership pitch package including:
  • Executive summary and partnership overview
  • Customized proposal for top 3 identified leads
  • Implementation timeline and next steps
  • Final presentation to stakeholders

Success Metrics

  • Quality and depth of lead analysis (scoring accuracy and rationale)
  • Thoroughness of market research and competitive benchmarking
  • Feasibility and competitiveness of proposed partnership valuations
  • Professional quality of final pitch materials
  • Demonstration of nonprofit sector understanding
