Students will review results from the Patient Experience Survey and the Patient Relations feedback to identify key themes and opportunities for improvement. They will also conduct environmental scans to understand best practices in similar healthcare settings. Based on their findings, students will propose a quality improvement initiative aimed at addressing identified gaps. The project will contribute to ongoing efforts to improve care delivery and patient satisfaction at the hospital.
Expected Outcomes & Deliverables:
- Thematic analysis of patient experience and patient relations feedback
- Summary of findings from environmental scans/literature review
- Identification of priority areas for improvement
- A detailed recommendation for a quality improvement project, including proposed interventions and measurement strategies
This project will provide the organization with fresh perspectives and data-driven recommendations while offering students hands-on experience in health system improvement and patient-centred care.
Student Involvement:
Students will be supported by the Patient Experience Office and provided with access to relevant data for analysis, including Patient Experience and Patient Relations survey data collected via Qualtrics. They are expected to work collaboratively with Patient Experience Office staff to interpret the data, identify key themes, and recommend SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) quality improvement ideas.

- Access to de-identified Patient Experience and Patient Relations data
- Access to relevant hospital policies or background documents (as appropriate)
- Potential access to stakeholders for interviews or clarification, if needed
Support Offered to Students
Students will receive mentorship and support throughout the project. The Director of Professional Practice will provide guidance through regular check-ins, mentoring opportunities, and networking connections within the organization. In addition, the Patient Experience Office will be available to support students with data interpretation, project planning, and feedback on deliverables.
