Details

We are looking for assistance in a research project, where we want to study ideation in design and how designers transition iteratively from a problem space (user research) to a solution space (creating a product or a service) when working on a project that involves research (user research, comparative research, literature search, etc.). With this project, we wish to create resources to help professional and student designers during this process.

We believe this project will include:

  • Readings on the methods
  • Exploration and creation of tools and methods (using existing methods and creating new ones, helping students in their ideation process.

After this phase of the project is completed, the tools created will be used in an educational setting to study how they are used by designers and how they affect their design process.

Deliverables
  • Complete reading on existing design methods
  • Explore how to improve existing methods and create methods (templates, sheets, workshops, etc.) to help students during ideation phases in a design process.
  • The project will be over 4 weeks (20 hours a week).
  • Students will be given challenges to complete each week regarding the improvement or the creation of design methods,
  • Each week will start with a challenge and end with a presentation of their solutions.
Mentorship

The student will discuss with the researchers on a regular basis (about twice a week).
