Create and optimize a blog template using the WordPress theme Avada
The OAND publication, The Pulse Magazine, has undergone many iterations since it began including a quarterly print publication, e-publication and flipbook. The association uses this as a vehicle for sharing important communications, celebrating the profession and its members and calling attention to important topics. It is also a place to spotlight our events and supporting partners. Create and optimize a blog template using the WordPress theme Avada that will house articles and advertisements.
New Employee Onboarding & Training Development
Our organization is very small and it is difficult to ensure that we have a great onboarding and training experience. We would like to set something up to introduce employees to their roles, and show them all of our resources. This will involve several different steps for the students, including: Examine the current onboarding process for new hires to identify what should be included in the onboarding process including forms, documentation and information. Establish a logical structure and order for the onboarding process, divided into “segments” or “modules” and their content. Research platforms or websites to automate the onboarding process. Create a segment specifically introducing new employees to our workplace culture and values.
Database Evaluation
We are looking to invest in new database software to meet the needs of our association and assist our growth. There are various options that are available to us, and we need a review of the features and benefits of each. We would like for students to help us research and choose the most ideal software to invest in. Background: We made a switch last year to a membership database system which has been extremely challenging and we need to establish whether we need to stick with it or if there are other more suitable options.
Security & Penetration Testing of Website, database system and other IT
A standard practice for web-based tools is to conduct what is known as penetration tests at least once a year. This is a white-hat hacking approach in which a firm is given special permission to try and break into, exploit, or otherwise attempt to break a given product via security vulnerabilities. First, we would like students to get familiar with our product including website and database. Sign up, play around with it, understand generally how it works. Second, students should spend time conducting research on state of the art pen testing technologies. They should look into common vulnerability lists such as OWASP Top 10, and common security tools such as Nmap, Burp Suitar, Nessus, and Wireshark. Third, students should have a written attack plan and present it to us so we can confirm we understand what the test will do and what might be uncovered. Fourth, students are free to attack our product as per the presented plan
Mobile App Development
Our organization provides continuous learning opportunities for Naturopathic Doctors. We want to develop an app that acts as a locker and allows the user to keep track of Cat A and B credits and proof documents. It would also be able to create a PDF of the log when they submit to the regulatory college. We would like to collaborate with students to develop this app to ensure that NDs have their credentials saved from all of their continuous learning activities in one place. This will involve several different steps for the students, including: Familiarize themselves with our LMS platform, products, and services. Identifying how other organizations/companies could link into the app. Identifying options for the app, including local or cloud storage options. Designing and developing the app Recommending areas for future app improvement. Training staff on the app use and maintenance. Option to automatically connect with our LMS system for association-offered credits and proof documents. Option to tie into a future LMS if needed.
ICT Ignite - Web Development Project
Develop a website for the OAND that securely connects with our database system, and provides information to the general public on the frontend and to our membership on the private members' portal. This website would be easy to maintain and be easy to use for end users while being mobile friendly and meeting AODA requirements.
