Project Examples

Accounting Assistant students are able to offer full cycle accounting, understanding of an accounting environment, A/P, A/R, bank reconciliations and filing, Simply Accounting, Quickbooks (desktop only) and MS Office Suite (Word, PPT, Access, Intermediate Excel). They are practiced at working with Revenue Canada, GST Remittance, and basic payroll. They are not specifically trained in Income Tax.

Practicums are wonderful, financially risk-free opportunities to get a sense of a students' work if you are in a position of seeking new employees. As a member of your community, you are providing a local student with a great opportunity for a hands-on experience with skills they have been working on in class for months. There is no obligation to hire back once the placement has concluded.

For the best experience, students should be accountable to a mentor within your organization; students are trained to seek support when required.

Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:

Be available for a quick phone call with the instructor to initiate your relationship and confirm your scope is an appropriate fit for the course.

Must be a local company able to host student in-office for term of placement

Provide a dedicated mentor who is able to support student throughout placement as needed
