product design artificial intelligence hardware manufacturing data analysis researchDo you have a product/service hardware and software design challenge you want to tackle? In this capstone project, student teams will apply knowledge you gained in the previous four semesters. They will conceive and design an original project that incorporates hardware and software related to your organization's challenge. They will research alternative designs, select appropriate strategies and defend your design choices in a final presentation. They will manage the project scheduling and costs to meet broad goals with minimal direction. They will design, construct and test a working prototype; including, a printed circuit board to illustrate the soundness of their design choices.
Students
The final project deliverables might include:
10-15 minute presentation of key findings and recommendations.A detailed report including their research, analysis, insights, and recommendations.Software and/or hardware design mock-ups and prototypes.

Project Examples
Requirements
Students working individually or in groups will help your company to identify your needs and provide actionable recommendations, based on their in-depth research and analysis. The projects can involve topics on robotics, embedded systems, Internet of Things, and artificial intelligence (machine learning, computer vision). Typically, a project involves the development of both hardware and software. Hardware: producing a Printed Circuit Board, using a microcontroller, or single board computer. Software: programming the system. We are capable of 3D printing.
Project activities might include but are not limited to:
Conceiving a project.Researching technical and design aspects required for completion of the project.Managing scheduling to ensure timely completion of the project.Selecting appropriately between alternative designs.Formulating evaluation criteria and design goals for the project.Developing a printed circuit board based prototype.Evaluating the performance of the prototype using scientific methods.Presenting a technical report on the project.
Additional company criteria
