Student teams from Saskatchewan Polytechnic will work with your organization to apply skills in design utilizing visual imagery, typography and graphic elements, to create a new or enhanced brand identity. Key components of the project would include development of a logo, brand style guide and sample designs of supporting marketing communications collateral applying the new brand identity.

Expected outcomes and deliverables

Phase 1 – Project Kick-off: Students will connect with organization representative(s) to devise the project scope and document key considerations in the creation of the brand image and identity.

Phase 2 – Project Execution: Students will apply their skills in creative design to create the following brand assets:

  • Logo design, including logo mark, logo type and/or combination mark, as required by your organization
  • Branded style guide detailing brand colour palette, typefaces/fonts, preferred writing style and logo usage to articulate a clear and consistent brand identity
  • Marketing collateral to support the implementation of your brand identity, which may include branded stationery/templates, sample print collateral, and/or digital ad designs.

Teams will periodically communicate with organization representative(s) as needed to validate design concepts and direction.

Project Examples

Requirements

Student consultants in teams of 3-4 will spend time learning about your organization and brand vision. You will consult with the students to establish specific brand attributes or characteristics which will guide their application of colour, typography, and imagery in the creation of a brand identity. Students will deliver the completed branding recommendations and designs to representatives from your organization. The class may work with one or more organizations, with the goal of providing multiple brand design alternatives to participating companies to choose from.

Project examples include, but are not limited to:

  • Development of branding for a new company or product line
  • Re-branding of an existing company or product
  • Creation of brand identity and guidelines for an existing product or brand

Additional company criteria

Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:

Provide guidance to student teams during kick-off meeting and feedback in response to student emails, to ensure teams are on the right track and expectations are aligned.

Minimum 2 – 4 interactions with the students remotely (approximately 4 – 6 hours over the duration of the project).

Be available for a quick phone call with the instructor to initiate your relationship and confirm your scope is an appropriate fit for the course.

Provide a dedicated contact who is available to answer periodic emails or phone calls over the duration of the project to address students’ questions.
