Tap into Emerging Tech Talent: Partner with TRU Computer Science Students
Our learners are 2nd and 3rd Diploma and Degree Computer Science and Information Technology International students from Thompson Rivers University. They may have completed core academic coursework in areas such as: Programming (Java, Python, C++) Web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) Database management (SQL, MySQL) Systems analysis and design Software engineering principles Networking and cybersecurity foundations UI/UX fundamentals Cloud computing and data structures They bring problem-solving skills, adaptability, and experience working on collaborative, real-world projects through their coursework. Many students have also completed personal, volunteer, or academic projects in GitHub environments.
Analysis of Environmental Economics
ECON 6010
Do you have an environmental or natural resources challenge you would like to tackle from an economics perspective? In this course, student-consultants working in small groups will examine your environmental, ecological or resource problem and then identify, analyze and critique economic solutions. They will tackle the challenge by addressing economic efficiency; externalities, common resources and public good provision issues; the theory of nonrenewable natural resources; cost-benefit analysis; ecological economics and green accounting; and the economics of climate change. The students will develop a report and presentation for your organization upon completion of the project.
Tourism and Community Building
TMGT 4080
Are you a public, nonprofit, or small business in the tourism/hospitality industry? Do you have a challenge related to navigating the industry that you would like to tackle? Tourism is a powerful force in today's world, and our students are at the end of a four-year degree program that has taught them about tourism's importance, not only economically, but also environmentally, socially, culturally, and politically. In this project, student teams will apply the skills they have gained to help tourism organizations that serve local communities and promote the greater good.
Winter 25-TRU Open Learning Students seeking short term projects
The Experience More initiative at Thompson Rivers University is seeking proposals for several 10-14 week projects from a variety of organizations that have project needs in the fields of Humanities, Business, and Information Technologies. Students will select the projects to work on for the term of the experiential learning opportunity. Bring on students from Thompson Rivers University enrolled in the Experience More initiative to work with you in a project-based experience. Students are available for a maximum of 30-60 hours (over-the-duration of the course) for the project.
