Undergraduate of Information Technology and Computer Science Project (Semester 2 2024)

Students complete hands-on, practical experience developing software and/or delivering IT solutions in a project environment. They will work in teams and complete projects from inception to implementation. Preferred projects are web application development, testing, CMS configuration etc Project requirements: Self-sustained independent projects preferred (not BAU work) Semester 1 starts on 17th July and finishes on 15th October Project description to be reviewed and approved by the academic coordinator The team will be formed based on student interest and skillset Team sizes are 3 -5 Projects are supervised by academics with industry experience Team outcomes will be finalised by the week of 31st July approximately Each student is expected to work 120hrs during the semester on the project Project sponsors are expected to meet with the team regularly (at least 1 hr/week) Please note that your request will not be accepted on Riipen until a student group has been allocated. Students are given the opportunity to submit preferences from July 17th, with partners to be notified if they've secured a group by July 31st. Students will work on one main project over the course of the semester, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools. Part 1: Research and interview your organization. Our team will delve deep into your company's background, values, and goals. They will also conduct interviews to gain insights into the unique aspects of the product that can be leveraged for effective marketing communication.  Part 2: Prepare marketing communication plan information. The students will compile the information gathered to outline key marketing communication objectives, target audiences, and messaging strategies.  Part 3: Design a marketing communication plan. Based on the information collected, our team will design a comprehensive marketing communication plan that will incorporate a mix of mediums, including digital marketing, social media, traditional advertising, and more, tailored specifically to the company's product.  Part 4: Present to the organization/client. Our students will present the marketing communication plan to you, seeking the company's input and feedback to ensure it aligns perfectly with their vision and mission.  Part 5: Finalize marketing communication plan. Upon receiving your feedback, our team will make any necessary revisions and finalize the marketing communication plan for your approval.

This work integrated learning course addresses the application of analytics and statistics in a real world situation for final year Master of Analytics, Master of Statistics and Operations Research and Bachelor of Analytics students. The projects include data pre-processing and cleaning, data wrangling and exploration, data visualisation (such as dashboard), time series analysis, multivariate analysis, predictive modelling, quality control, regression, machine learning, , experimental design and optimisation. Computation tools include in particular querying language (SQL), R, Python, SAS, and Matlab. Our WIL projects have helped big and small companies improving their service and efficiency using current analytics and data science techniques. The WIL also provides a pathway for industry to recruit excellent graduates. Some employers report that our students bring fresh ideas and approaches to the workplace, sharing the latest research and thinking in the field they study.
