Details

We would like to make our housing co-operative more environmentally friendly.

We have secured funding for a number of activities: greenhouse, community garden, solar panel and EV installation and improving the energy efficiency of the building.

What we need is an implementation plan -- this would include identifying suppliers and contractors, designing the layout/location of the above activities, and creating a timeline and work plan to implement the activities.

This project would help reduce the carbon footprint of our building. We would like Engineering, Design and Environmental Studies students to develop an implementation plan that can optimize the sustainability of our building and implement the changes in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

Deliverables

The final deliverables should take the form of:

  • An implementation plan
  • A 30-minute presentation in the housing co-op if appropriate
Mentorship

Students will connect directly with the employer for mentorship and supervision throughout the project. Students will be required to visit the housing co-operative to better understand the site layout and the challenges to implementation.
