To date, there has been very little research investigating how sub-clinical narcissistic personal traits relate to the care and ownership of animals. Furthermore, little is also known about how narcissistic personality traits in animal owners or caregivers influence the animal's behaviour. This project is designed to begin investigating these important questions.
During the project, the successful applicant will be expected to:
- Familiarize and review the relevant literature in the topic area
- Help plan and develop pre-registration document(s) for research that is currently in development and/or deployed.
- Export, clean, and organize raw data collected on completed/in-progress projects in the subject area.
- Plan and help conduct data analysis on the aforementioned data
- Assist in knowledge translation activities such as writing scientific reports on the findings, or presenting the results of the work to relevant audiences.
In total, this project is scheduled to take 4-weeks to complete. It will require 80-hours of work in that timeframe (20h/wk).

About the company
The Department of Psychology is a large and dynamic department, offering both a major and a minor in psychology in both the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees, and a honours degree option. Our 23 tenured and tenure-track faculty members are engaged in research in all areas of psychology, and, in addition to offering a high caliber of classroom instruction, students are encouraged to take advantage of opportunities such as honours and independent studies to add further depth to their educational experience. Field placements in clinical psychology, at a variety of community organizations, is also made available to eligible students.
