Details

Fyto has a number of existing technological innovations which rely heavily on external satellite data and these satellites are very out of date in terms of their detection capabilities. Fyto would like to design a low-cost satellite that will continually monitor the earth for markers and wildfire risk.

The goal of this project is to design and build a satellite that can scan the Earth for wildfires. The satellite will be equipped with various sensors, including infrared cameras and thermal imaging sensors, to detect and locate active wildfires. It will also have the ability to transmit real-time data and images to ground stations.

The satellite will be placed in a low Earth orbit, allowing it to cover a large area of the Earth's surface

Deliverables

Ideal outcomes:

  1. A preliminary design/capabilities document for a v.1 wildfire monitoring and prediction satellite.
  2. High-resolution imaging capability that can detect and track the progression of wildfires
  3. Infrared sensors that can detect the heat generated by a wildfire, even during the night or in areas with heavy smoke
  4. Real-time data transmission that allows emergency responders to respond more quickly and effectively to the wildfire
  5. Machine learning algorithms that can analyze the data collected by the imaging and infrared sensors and make predictions about the spread and behavior of the wildfire
  6. Cloud-penetrating algorithms that can process the data collected by the SAR and LIDAR sensors and generate high-resolution images of the ground surface, even through thick clouds

Fyto Autonomous Firefighting is a California-based wildfire protection company. Our mission is to end the destruction of private property caused by climate disasters with a specific focus on wildfires.
Fyto has an exclusive license to use a patented sprinkler system in North America. This sprinkler system will douse the home and the area around the home (the fuels) in water and a microbial-based wetting agent.
In addition to this, Fyto is has developed Fyto Cloud, an artificial intelligence-based system to determine when to enable the sprinkler systems around your home. By using a network of sensors, Fyto Cloud can monitor the environment and selectively enable the sprinklers around the home to reduce the risk of fire ignition.
Fyto is targeting homes in the WUI (Wildland Urban Interface) as a large swatch of these homes are unable to get adequate insurance.

We call our wildfire defense product ‘FireFyto’. You can see more at www.homewildfireprotection.com
