Siraj Institute is celebrating its sixth anniversary and we are expanding! We are looking for an articulate and persuasive intern to join our grant writing project. This position involves writing grant proposals and reporting directly to the executive director.

Key Responsibilities:

1) Creating Proposals:

  • Craft compelling proposals that highlight our institute's causes.
  • Ensure proposals are accurate, informative, and persuasive.
  • Tailor each proposal to meet the specific criteria of the grant.

2) Reporting Grant Status to Supervisor:

  • Provide regular updates on the progress of grant applications.
  • Maintain clear and professional communication with the executive director.

3) Collaborating with Team Members:

  • Work closely with the executive director and other team members to gather necessary information for the grant.
  • Participate in team meetings to discuss progress and strategies.

Project Details:

  • We have five grants to work on: two municipal, two provincial, and one federal.
  • Each student will be assigned one grant.
  • We can accommodate two additional students for grant research and analysis.

Support and Evaluation:

  • Guidance: The executive director will provide detailed guidance and support throughout the project. Regular check-ins will be scheduled to ensure you are on track and to address any questions or challenges.
  • Training: Interns will be able to access learning content and a library of tools to help them become better grant writers. The more you put in, the more you get out of this internship!
  • Evaluation: Your performance will be evaluated based on the quality of your research, the effectiveness of your proposals, and your ability to meet deadlines. Feedback will be provided to help you improve and succeed.

Individual Tasks and Outcomes:

  • Each student will be responsible for writing one grant proposal.
  • You will be expected to manage your assigned grant timeline, from initial draft to final submission.
  • Clear deliverables will be set for each stage of the project to ensure progress and accountability.
  • There will be training and team progress meetings to ensure we help everyone stay on track and get all the resources they need.


Deliverables

Outcomes:

1) Develop Grant Writing Skills:

  • Enhance your ability to research, write, and submit grant proposals.
  • Learn how to tailor proposals to meet specific grant criteria and effectively communicate the institute's mission and needs.

2) Gain Practical Experience:

  • Work on real grant applications at municipal, provincial, and federal levels.
  • Understand the grant application process from start to finish.

3) Enhance Communication and Collaboration:

  • Report progress and updates to the executive director.
  • Collaborate with team members to gather necessary information and refine proposals.

4) Contribute to the Institute's Growth:

  • Help secure funding that will support the institute's programs and initiatives.
  • Play a role in the institute's expansion and impact on the community.


Deliverables:

  1. The student will spend some time to learn grant writing basics, and receive certification for the course.
  2. The student will submit 1st, 2nd, and final draft of the grant
  3. The student will prepare a short weekly report about the process of the grant.
  4. The student will deliver a 15 minute presentation at the end of the internship about the process, the outcome, what they learnt, and what can be suggestions for the future.
