Grow Unit Redesign
Number of positions available: One or more teams with one or more students We have created a "Grow Unit" that is used in Indoor Vertical Farming. Our Grow Unit consists of several subsystems: - the mechanical part made from several stainless steel components, - Lighting subsystem - mounted LEDs - IoT - Arduino - manages all the other subsystems, and reads sensor data - Air management system - air flow, CO2 - Water subsystem - Nutrient subsystem - adds nutrients to the water system We currently want to do an overall on the design and prepare it for manufacturing. With the exception of the stainless steel, we prefer to purchase off the shelf components and do our own assembly. We are looking for a team of students to make it all happen. Sustainable Best Practices
Looking for up to 2 students Hello we are looking at sustainable methods to develop and finalize the last touches on our clothing brand. We would love research in the following areas: Sustainable dye (DIY dye methods that have 0 carbon footprint & don't spread in wash) Packaging (material, best practices) Reduce over all waste (over all supply chain analysis to see where we can improve)
LGS Gardner
Number of positions available: One or more teams with one or more students We have created a "Grow Unit" that will be managed by a hardware/software unit called the LGS Gardner. As we work in versions, there is always work to be done. With new and improved versions coming in the next few weeks/months. The LGS Gardner hardware is on an Arduino board with several features. An Arduino board is also used for other projects in which the boards communicate and linked with other tools. Due to this, our interns will be working together with various teams ranging from engineers to our science team. Giving them the whole perspective on how broad a company is. During this internship, students are treated as equals. We value their opinions and ask them to present their opinions to discuss the topics and potentially adapt our marketing plan accordingly. The main benefit of seeing all stages of development is giving interns the freedom to develop their skill set. Skills students will develop: Project management Communication in a virtual environment Familiarity with tools like Discord, Asana and GitLab Taking responsibility Presentation skills for a business environment. Some example deliverables that students can complete may include, but are not limited to: Creation/improving the Arduino hardware Creation/improving the Arduino software Instruction video of how to create the board If you would like to apply for to our other projects, then please click on the link below LGS Projects It is also possible to reach us via email instead of responding via Riipen at Jacek@localgrownsalads.com.
