Communications & Outreach Intern - School Identity Survey Outreach Initiative
Looking for a chance to combine creativity, communication, and real-world impact? Join us as a Communications & Outreach Intern and help us grow participation in our new School Identity Survey . This education research project captures authentic perspectives from school communities and shares them with families through our platform. You’ll gain hands-on experience in marketing and outreach communications while contributing to a meaningful initiative that helps families make informed choices. Who are we? We are Canada’s #1 private school guide. We’re also the #1 guide to summer camps and programs, and the #1 retirement community guide. We’re a two-sided platform: we help families understand their options with clarity, and we help schools, camps, and communities connect with the right families at the right time. About the project We are conducting a survey with students, parents, and alumni to capture how a school is experienced and perceived, including its academics, social life, values, and overall atmosphere. The results will be analyzed and featured on our platform, giving prospective families fresh, nuanced insights that go beyond standard facts and figures. Your mission will be to drive participation and ensure high response rates. You’ll do this by managing communications with schools and respondents, and by designing creative outreach strategies that make the survey visible, accessible, and engaging. The goal is to enrich each school’s profile with authentic voices from its community, creating a resource that helps families make more confident choices. What you’ll do Plan and run outreach strategies to increase participation Contribute creative ideas to boost the survey’s visibility Create engaging content for emails, social media, and promotional materials Communicate with schools, students, parents, and alumni to encourage responses Explore and test creative tactics for boosting engagement (e.g., partnerships, incentives, events) Track participation trends and suggest improvements Share feedback and insights with the project team to help refine strategies Who you are You’re curious about marketing and community engagement, and enjoy finding creative ways to connect with others You communicate clearly and confidently with a variety of people You’re organized and pay attention to detail You collaborate well and contribute positively to a team You take initiative and can manage tasks independently Bonus: you have experience with campaigns, partnerships, or other outreach initiatives What you’ll get Hands-on experience in communications, marketing, and engagement A chance to design and test creative outreach strategies Real-world exposure to education research and survey-based projects Flexible hours that work around your student schedule The opportunity to contribute to a project with an impact on schools and families Who you’ll work with You’ll be part of a collaborative team at Our Kids Media, working closely with editorial and product teams. You’ll also connect directly with schools and their communities, gaining firsthand experience in outreach and engagement. Along the way, you’ll learn from editors, analysts, and marketers who specialize in turning research into insights, and insights into practical tools for families. You’ll have guidance when you need it, but plenty of room to contribute your own ideas.

RESEARCH LEAD
National Survey: Why Parents Choose Summer Camps Are you a curious and motivated student with a passion for education and recreation research? We want you. At OUR KIDS Media, research is one of the ways we strengthen our mission of helping families make confident, informed choices. This is a unique opportunity to lead a national study on Canadian parents’ decision-making about summer camps and programs — a project that will generate insights that would help both camps and families across Canada. Who are we? We’re Canada’s #1 guide to summer camps and programs. We’re also the #1 private school guide, and the #1 retirement community guide. We’re a two-sided platform: we help families understand their options with clarity, and we help camps, schools, and communities connect with the right families at the right time. About the Project “National Survey: Why Parents Choose Summer Camps” will focus on parents’ perspectives. It will attempt to uncover the most important factors influencing how families select summer camps and programs. It will explore parental expectations regarding camp experience, and how those expectations align with — or differ from — the actual outcomes they see once their child attends. Results will be segmented by camp type (day vs. overnight), activity focus (arts, sports, STEM, leadership, outdoor adventure), geography, and more. The findings will culminate in a national report for the camp sector and a set of highlight snapshots that camps can share with families as part of their outreach. Results will also be featured on OurKids.net and Camps.ca. What you’ll do You’ll take the lead on this high-profile national project. Specifically, you’ll: Develop and refine survey questions in collaboration with OUR KIDS editorial and marketing teams. Coordinate survey distribution and ensure strong parent participation across Canada. Analyze survey data to identify patterns, differences, and insights. Segment findings by camp type, activity focus, geography, and more. Draft the National Report and assist with creating highlight materials that camps can use in their communications. Work with OUR KIDS’ editorial and design teams to publish and promote the findings. Who you’ll work with You’ll collaborate closely with the OUR KIDS Media team — the people behind the most trusted family decision-making platforms in Canada. You’ll learn from senior editors, analysts, and marketers who specialize in turning research into insights, and insights into practical tools for camps and families. Who you are Skilled in research and writing, with the ability to communicate insights clearly. Comfortable with data analysis (experience with Excel, SPSS, R, or similar tools is an asset). Detail-oriented, curious, and highly organized. Interested in education, recreation, social science, or market research. Confident working independently while collaborating within a team environment. What you’ll get A chance to lead a nationally recognized camp research project. Mentorship from senior professionals in publishing and marketing. Hands-on experience in survey design, analysis, and publishing. A flexible, part-time, project-based role you can balance with your studies.
