Enhancing Public Health through AI-Driven Point-of-Care Testing management solution in community care
Project Overview: This project will allow students to contribute to the development and adoption of a SaaS platform designed to integrate Point Of Care Testing management/data collection in community settings. The platform aims to centralize patient results, streamline workflows for healthcare professionals, and support public health initiatives through AI-driven data insights. Students will explore the impact of the platform on healthcare providers, patients, and policymakers by conducting research, analyzing data, and providing recommendations to enhance adoption and effectiveness. Project Goals: 1. Assess Market Fit & Adoption Rates: • Conduct research on the adoption of Point Of Care Testing management/data collection in community care settings. • Identify barriers and opportunities for pharmacists, nurse practitioners and community care health care providers. • Quantify adoption trends and evaluate how to accelerate platform adoption. 2. Public Health Impact Analysis: • Evaluate how centralized patient data can improve public health decision-making. • Analyze policy frameworks related to point-of-care testing in Canada. • Propose data models that could help predict health trends (e.g., diabetes rates). 3. Healthcare Workflow & Financial Benefits Assessment: • Identify how the platform improves efficiency and reduces paper-based workflows. • Conduct a cost-benefit analysis, estimating revenue/time savings for clinics. • Compare the platform’s impact on patient care vs. traditional methods. 4. Policy & Regulatory Review: • Research and summarize key regulations affecting point-of-care testing. • Provide recommendations to align the platform with nursing and pharmacy mandates.

MANA Software Implementation Strategy for Virtual POCT in Pharmacies
Virtual POCT aims to revolutionize the pharmacy industry by launching its MANA software, designed to enhance point-of-care testing (POCT) capabilities. The project involves developing a comprehensive strategy for the implementation and operation of MANA software across 20 pilot pharmacies. The goal is to ensure a seamless integration of the software into existing pharmacy workflows, maximizing efficiency and accuracy in POCT. Learners will apply their knowledge of software implementation, Operation management, project management, and the healthcare industry to create a robust plan. The project will focus on identifying potential challenges, identifying appropriate partners and resources, devising solutions, and establishing a timeline for the pilot launch. By the end of the project, learners will have crafted a strategic plan that addresses both technical and operational aspects of the software deployment.

Cybersecurity Strategy for Digital Healthcare Platform
The primary objective of this project is to enhance the cybersecurity of Virtual POCT's digital healthcare platform (MANA), which manages sensitive patient data and requires robust protection against cyber threats. The project aims to develop a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy tailored to the platform's specific needs by: Developing a Tailored Cybersecurity Strategy : Designing a detailed plan with recommended tools, technologies, and practices to fortify the platform’s security. Providing Implementation Recommendations : Offering actionable steps to effectively integrate the proposed measures into the development and operational workflows. This project will provide learners with a unique opportunity to apply cybersecurity principles in a real-world digital healthcare context, equipping them with critical insights into the challenges of securing healthcare data and complying with industry standards.
