Bio

Taking a seed and nurturing it until it blossoms into its greatest self defines my approach to both life and design, which is why UX/UI design is the perfect space for me to thrive. As a UX/UI designer, I’m passionate about crafting experiences that transform confusion into clarity, mistrust into loyalty, and disinterest into delight. For me, the process is personal and creative—like a gardener tending to growth. Once I discover what tugs at a user's heartstrings, the fun begins. Ideation becomes planting, prototyping is nurturing, and testing is the crucial stage before the harvest. If it doesn’t yield success, I’m ready to get back into the field, iterating until it does.

I bring over 20 years of experience in creating engaging learning experiences for adult learners in online education. My expertise lies in academic writing, interactive content development, and designing courses that inspire and meet diverse learner needs. My BA in English Literature honed my ability to collect and analyze data to support perspectives, a skill that transitions seamlessly into UX/UI design, where understanding user behaviors, goals, and pain points is key. My master’s degree in Writing complements this by enabling me to craft compelling content that engages users at every touchpoint of their journey.

In my professional journey, I’ve collaborated with academic professionals to ensure continuous improvement of course content through data-driven feedback, while my elementary teaching background sharpened my ability to design gamified and interactive experiences. My time as an online English instructor familiarized me with learning management systems and adaptive content design to meet diverse learner preferences and abilities.

A sabbatical to care for my father deepened my commitment to creating experiences that resonate with people, inspiring me to pursue training in learning design and UX/UI principles. I’ve since gained skills in information architecture, wireframing, and prototyping, all aimed at building meaningful and user-centered experiences. While most of my design experience lies in academic settings, I am eager to expand into other areas of UX/UI, using my creativity and skills to design exceptional user experiences across various industries.

Through every project, my goal remains the same: to create products and experiences that truly connect with users and help them achieve their goals with clarity and joy.

Learning Module: Creating Basic Graphic Designs in Figma I developed a self-paced learning module to teach users how to create basic graphic designs using Figma, a collaborative design tool. The project focuses on guiding learners through the fundamentals of user interface and graphic design, starting with an introduction to Figma's features, tools, and workspace. Learners complete hands-on activities, including creating wireframes, building simple layouts, and designing visually appealing graphics. The module integrates short video demonstrations, downloadable design templates, and interactive quizzes to reinforce learning. By the end of the module, users gain confidence in navigating Figma and producing professional-grade graphic designs suitable for presentations, marketing materials, or social media.

Redesign of Learning Module for SNHU ENG 130: Composition II I undertook the redesign of an online learning module for ENG 130: Composition II at Southern New Hampshire University, focusing on enhancing student engagement and comprehension of persuasive and analytical writing. The project involved streamlining the module's structure to align with modern pedagogical practices, incorporating multimedia elements, and designing interactive activities to deepen understanding of thesis development, evidence-based arguments, and APA formatting. I included scenario-based exercises where students critique sample essays, collaborate in peer reviews, and complete self-paced quizzes to reinforce learning. This redesign significantly improved the clarity of learning objectives and created a more interactive experience that better equips students with the writing skills needed for academic and professional success.

Scenario-Based Learning Experience for Budgeting, Saving, and Investing This learning experience was designed to teach young adults entering the workforce how to manage their finances effectively. The project uses scenario-based learning, where participants are guided through interactive case studies simulating real-world financial challenges. Learners assume the role of a young professional tasked with creating a monthly budget, setting financial goals, and making informed decisions about saving and investing. The experience incorporates multimedia resources such as video tutorials, budgeting templates, and gamified elements like "financial choice consequences," helping learners understand the impact of their decisions. The program emphasizes practical application, providing participants with skills to achieve financial independence and long-term security.
