Student Profile: Students in this course are in their 3rd or 4th year of B Commerce program. These students can be expected to have advanced understanding in this project area. Marketing Strategy
Our 4th year Marketing students will apply their knowledge of the whole marketing process to a real-life organization with a particular problem/challenge related to their marketing strategy. A Community Partner project will involve the students creating a marketing strategy. There will also be a 5-6 implementation phase for this project. Please note: Partners must be willing to have a budget that students can work with in the implementation phase. They must also agree that students can publish and/or present their findings. Partners may also be asked to work with two teams.
International expansion analysis
1. Identify current trends in various regional centres with particular attention to the implications from a Canadian perspective. 2. Identify the relevant elements to be included in a ‘region profile’ and develop one for a specific region. 3. Analyze institutional and business dynamics as well as trends and practices within a particular region. 4. Discuss the main drivers behind firm strategies and operations within and across regions. 5. Research, collect, organize, and analyze data on a specific topic. 6. Prepare and present conceptual (theory) and empirical (data) briefings on a particular region or phenomenon.

In this course, students integrate and apply a range of multifunctional business concepts from marketing, finance, and general management fields to evaluate strategic decisions undertaken by organizations operating in international settings. Students analyze the current situation of international firms and develop potential strategic alternatives for the organization. Working in small teams, 4th year business students will study your business and the best options for entering a new international market. They will provide an analysis of top options and provide recommendations with an implementation plan. Please note: Your initial acceptance in this project does not guarantee that the professor will select your organization. We will be contacting each organization to ensure that the scope of the project fits the requirements of this class. Preference will be given to manufacturing or product-based organizations rather than to services.

Industry partners selected will be a “Live Case Study” for the course, which means many students will be working in teams on developing tools and resources to support the changes in each company/organization. In other words, lots of ideas and resources for your company! Please note: Your initial acceptance in this project does not guarantee that the professor will select your organization. We are currently looking for partners in the community to partner with our Organizational Management course: Contemporary Organizational Behaviour and Theory. Students will look at how individuals are shaped and actively shape their organizational environment, and the effect of this dynamic for an organization’s success. Students will be reaching out to you to interview you about your organization the first week of October. Attendance at virtual presentations associated with the particular course on either January 30th or February 1st Your feedback at this presentation will help the students complete their final recommendation report, which you will receive.

Faculty of Arts & Science - Work Integrated Learning Spring Placement
Bring on a MacEwan University student from the Faculty of Arts & Science to be your virtual intern, in a project-based experience. Students will work on one or more projects of your choosing over the internship period, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools. Please note that our applicants range from second year, third year, and fourth-year learners; therefore, internship opportunities should consider these different levels of expertise. Students are available for a minimum of 90 hours of placement starting May 2nd, 2022 (can be longer than 90 hours). We welcome both paid and volunteer opportunities. Students acquire the knowledge on how to market and lease commercial/retail/industrial properties. Students examine the lease market in general as well as micro markets affecting subject properties. Upon identification of a target market for either an existing subject property that is to be repositioned or a proposed new development, a marketing plan will be created with the goal of completing a full lease-up. This activity will include determination of lease/rental rates, promotions, a detailed advertising strategy, property presentation, and customer service approach. To have students interact and engage with Commercial Real Estate companies or brokers of all sizes and specialties (retail, commercial, industrial). To have the students learn about the different customer service approaches and problems that Commercial Real Estate companies are faced by interacting with the clients.
