Bio

I founded Aventure Works in 2001 with the idea that entrepreneurialism done right can improve the lives of everyone on the planet.

For the last 18+years I have helped businesses in the $8 to $80 million range to grow by using analytical tools and mindsets.

I have helped companies to go public (Nasdaq:CPEN), to be acquired (ABCO Fire) and to simply grow (Winston Products).

I work with ownership & senior management on process, systems and work team improvement projects.

Prior to founding Aventure Works, I was VP IT for a global service provider (later acquired) as it grew from $0 to $18 million in annual revenue. Our clientele included global companies such as Philips, Thomson SA and Hoover.

Prior to that (going back in time), I was on an advanced app dev team with what is now Fedex Logistics, Dir of IT for Universal Electronics (Nasdaq:UEIC), intern for a Member of Congress and a Laborer (LIUNA 125).

Website Design/Development

Project Summary Aventure Works helps independent business owners and management improve financial and operational performance. We do this primarily through management services, packaged or bundled into defined scope/fixed fee projects and ongoing retainer type relationships. Secondarily, we have developed a productivity tool, our 80/20 Power Grid (tm), and methodology which is as yet not marketed; and for which, we see a larger set of target markets. We are actively improving our core website(s) (note: the marketing startegy itself is a work in progress; see Riipen project 8566); primarily around our core services; and, we see potential for the 80/20 Power Grid (tm) to play a role in lead generation for same (as well as for a free-standing product). Our ultimate goal of the website(s) is to generate leads and cultivates relationships through our buying cycle: Creating awareness Cultivating interest Reinforcing intent Closing sales To accomplish this, we seek to find a partner here on Riipen that can help with the design & development of the primary website, Aventure Works ; and, potentially, the 80/20 Power Grid website. Currently, these websites are reside in Wordpress. We have invested in Elegant Themes' Divi as well as a set of plugins by WPMUDEV. Examples of Deliverables Examples of deliverables include but are not limited to: Wire frames Color palettes Typography UX Lead generation flow The nature and number of deliverables depend on the level of effort to be determined with course instructor. Our Commitment We would prefer a Scrum/Agile approach with clear weekly targets/milestones and weekly check-ins. We are open to working with various tools; our current outsourcing projects use Uberconference (so, if needed, we can record any work sessions) and Github (so we all have a complete record of issues, issue status, scope, and of course document version control). We are available through telephone, email, chat, video conference on an as-needed basis during business hours. Our expectation would be to have an introductory call with course instructor prior to the beginning of the project. Why Choose Us On Riipen, you can create your own project or select a project offered by any company or organization. We believe choosing to work with us is a smart choice, because: Your course requirements are important; we can tailor our project accordingly. Your students will have the freedom and responsibility to work on meaningful tasks. You and your students have your schedules and commitments that might not coincide with ours. Nevertheless, this project is very important to this business venture and although we prefer scheduled check-ins, we will make every effort to be available to the project team on short notice. Your students will be working with experienced business professionals. We are entrepreneurs with over 19 years of experience operating our own business, in addition to have worked with successful startups, growth companies, IPO’s and M&A stage companies. Your students can expect reciprocity for excellent work. Our network includes solopreneurs, students, small businesses and large: we will be happy to work together again on future projects as well as be professional references and make introductions.

B2B Survey of Business Owner Sentiment

As a management services company, we have a primary focus of creating relevant services for our customer. Today, we structure these as follows (https://aventureworks.com/management-services/): MIS Management Business Intelligence (BI) & Reporting Business Valuation Customer Profitability Analysis Business Process Improvement Team Management With this in mind, we have created a new tool (https://8020powergrid.com/) and are struggling to incorporate it into our overall service offerings and / or develop a parallel set of services or programs focused first and foremost upon it. At the same time, of course, the global economy has been rocked by COVID related activities as well as having undergone a series of shocks and trends, e.g., inflation and threats of same). As such, we would like to survey companies in our target industries (primarily field services such life safety, fire prevention, etc.) to get an actionable insights into their current situation, what their expectations of the future are, what their most pressing urgent needs are, what services best align with those need, etc. While we have strong ideas about what questions should be on the survey, how long (or short) it should be, etc., we recognize that survey design itself might be something of interest to the student or instructor and so we are open to including that aspect into a project. The core requirement of the project though is outbound calling of small/medium-size business owners in order to complete the surveys. We also realize that statistical compilation of the data, including the creation of presentation graphics might be of interest to the student or instructor and so we are again open to including that aspect into the project. Lastly, we realize that creation of an online survey form for the students to enter the data that might be of interest to the student or instructor and so we are open to including that aspect into the project. ***HOWEVER*** in no case, will the project be structured to have prospective customers complete the surveys online by themselves. The primary deliverable though will be a spreadsheet containing the customer data originally provided as well as the answers to the various survey questions.

Our ultimate goal is to have a coherent marketing strategy, with prioritized tactics (to-do's), that generate leads and cultivates relationships through our buying cycle: Creating awareness Cultivating interest Reinforcing intent Closing sales To accomplish that, we seek to find a partner here on Riipen that can move us forward in some aspects of these goals--if not the entire strategy. Examples of Deliverables Examples of deliverables include but are not limited to: Identifying key customer segments Marketing strategy: (Set of 8) one page of guiding principles, scope of services, target company and decision-maker personas, etc. Key messaging concepts, terminology and phrasing Branding/rebranding New service launch New product launch The nature and number of deliverables depend on the level of effort to be determined with course instructor. ***NOTE: we are NOT looking for students to do any prospecting--whether by "cold calling" or "client/prospect interviews".*** Our Commitment We would prefer a Scrum/Agile approach with clear weekly targets/milestones and weekly check-ins.
