Centennial College's Customer Skills course prepares first-year students with the essential knowledge and skills to excel in Level 1 and Level 2 technical support roles in helpdesk environments. Learners are trained in user interaction, multi tier incident management problem-solving, communication, and teamwork, using industry-standard Incident Management help desk applications like LBE Help Desk Software. The course focuses on developing the technical and business skills required for entry-level user support roles. Learners aim to build proficiency in troubleshooting, customer communication, and workload management while gaining hands-on experience working with real-world problems. Employers participating in this collaboration are expected to engage in regular communication with students, provide necessary project information, be present during the final presentation, and offer constructive feedback through the Riipen platform. This feedback will guide learners in refining their technical support and customer service abilities.
Software and Systems Development Programs - Fall 2024
Learners in this experience are enrolled in various Software and Systems Development Programs. This experience aims to source appropriate projects for these students interested in securing experiential learning projects during their final year at Centennial College. Students are enrolled in: Software Engineering Technology Software Engineering Technician Artificial Intelligence - Software Engineering Technology Bachelor of Information Technology (Computer and Communication Networks) Computer Systems Technician - Networking Game – Programming Health Informatics Technology Students in these programs generally apply programming skills to create, maintain, test and edit website, applications, mobile apps, and databases. As students in their senior years, they have ‘full stack’ skills to support both frontend and backend development with a foundational understanding of cloud computing, APIs, and software security. Health Informatics Technology students may also have strengths in data privacy and best practices for working with sensitive data.

We are inviting employers to collaborate with Centennial College students through the WILwork program to develop websites. This initiative aims to create Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) opportunities for our students, allowing them to apply their skills in real-world scenarios related to their program of study. Centennial students from the software engineering programs are skilled in various aspects of website development, including front-end and back-end programming, UX/UI design, and content management. As such, it enjoys a respected national and international reputation and is recognized by leading employers. The Workplace and Wellness Health Promotion program will prepare students to promote the total well-being of individuals and groups within corporate and community contexts. If you have a health and wellness related project, bring on one or more students to be your virtual interns for 14 weeks to help. In this course, our students from Centennial College have been introduced to a broad range of business concepts, practices and theories relevant to today’s global business environment. Students have examined the interrelationship among functional areas of a business enterprise; specifically, human resources, operations management, marketing and sales, and accounting and finance. Students have developed an understanding of how these functional areas of business are impacted as the economy, technology, global competition, and consumer decision making continue to evolve. Throughout this course students have developed and enhanced their ability to work effectively in teams, conduct research, analyze cases, and will begin to develop the skills and confidence requisite to delivering professional business presentations. These essential business skills have prepared our students for the professional demands of working on a project with your organization.

Bring on students from the International Development Post-Graduate Certificate Co-op Program at Centennial College (linked here) to be your virtual or in-person interns in a project-based experience. Students will work on one or more projects of your choosing over the placement period. Would you and/or your agency be interested and able to supervise our students?
