Description

We are a publisher of financial information.

Our app for iPhone and iPad, BeyondETFs Pro, gives our subscribers the two pieces of information every investor needs to know: WHAT to buy, and WHEN to sell. Subscribers use a simple process that embodies the Brockmann Method to achieve higher returns than otherwise possible in any Exchange Traded Fund based on the S&P 100 companies. Subscribers buy and sell elsewhere, but use our app to learn those two most important things. A built-in scorecard keeps track in total form, stock-by-stock and graphically to satisfy the leading question - how did I do today in the market?

Financial App's Subscriber Predictors

As is a common practice in the mobile app industry, developers are constantly tracking the activities of users while in the app. Typically, and for user convenience, whenever the app is sent to background or closed, the mobile operating system (iOS) allows a short time for the app to deliver a record of what was experienced to our server. For Brockmann & Company, our privacy policy and practices assure our users that this is done on an anonymous basis to improve the features and functions of the app with the goal of improving the user user experience. Although we've been recording this information since March 2020, we've not had the resources to analyze what has become a mountain of data (over 41,000 rows of subscriber activities, and over 105,000 rows of all user classes), until now . As part of our effort to improve the user experience, we’d like students to analyze our datasets and share their analysis on the state of the Beyond ETFs Pro experience. In particular, in an effort to develop recommendations for winning more subscribers, we'd like you to create a subscriber predictor . In looking only at those users that became subscribers, determine what behaviors, timeframes and or external market causes that significantly influence subscribers to become subscribers. Should include confidence estimates too. To begin, students will receive a promo code that can be used to earn a free subscription for a limited time (a $38.99 value).

Subscriber Research

We have acquired our subscribers organically through discovery services in the Apple App Store. We want to better understand our subscribers so that we can design a marketing strategy to profitably acquire more subscribers just like them. The research project will include: Designing a questionnaire instrument that can be easily imbedded in the app for secure access by our subscribers. Evaluate the instrument (some call it 'post-posterior analysis') to determine if the question gives us the information we need. If time permits, analyzing the results of the instrument. Make recommendations.

Data Analysis of Mobile Financial App Features

We'd like to understand the different behaviors of subscribers. What's the average 'age' of an install? What are the range of ages of an install? How often do subscribers delete/reinstall the app (indicating a buggy experience). What features have subscribers visited or consumed most often, least often. Trends in feature consumption? Any patterns in usage? Typical subscriber experiences? Time between app starts? 'Tips' consumed - most/least. Best Practices, information views. 'Movies' consumed - per subscriber? Are there 'churn' issues in this app? From your analysis, we hope to not only improve our product, processes and understanding of user behavior but also gain business insights that will strengthen our strategy and execution. This analysis and its insights will be directly related to business outcomes. To begin, students will receive a promo code that can be used to earn a free subscription for a limited time (a $38.99 value).

Reducing Subscriber Acquisition Costs

So far, Beyond ETFs is a founder-funded initiative. The goal of this project is to reduce average subscriber acquisition cost to get the company to break-even and prepare the company for investor engagement. Students participating in this project and the professor will not have to sign Non Disclosure Agreements unless access to Brockmann & Company proprietary information is required. Students will receive promotional licenses to 1-year subscriptions so that they can download the app to their iPhone or iPad (running iOS 11 or better) and experiment with the app. Students will be briefed on the financial services market - size, structure, players. Students will be briefed on the subscriber acquisition process. What it is today and how we got here. Expectations: Expected activities will be to research the product and the market, develop and test alternative models of subscriber acquisition. Make recommendations to improve the flow and reduce cost. Test the recommendations. The Student Report: Students will demonstrate familiarity with the product. Students will research the financial services market, participants and various market segments appropriate for Beyond ETFs. Students will review the subscriber acquisition flow and present recommendations and suggestions for improvement to reduce the cost of subscriber acquisition. Every report provided will gain feedback on their report/presentation in terms of creativity, depth of analysis and practicality of implementation given the limited resources of Brockmann & Company.
